Party Poker is one of the best known sites in Europe. One of the earliest to offer games online Party was once the number 1 site in the world, but times have changed and although only a medium sized site they still have plenty of options for most players.
Party Poker veterans will get a surprise if they haven’t visited the site for a while, it’s all been overhauled with a brand new twist. Party are moving towards more social integration and have introduced ground breaking (for poker sites) MMO type achievements and missions which can earn you extra goodies. The best reward at the moment is entry to a $30,000 freeroll – who wouldn’t be interested in that? I must admit although initially being sceptical that it was all just a gimmick, it’s actually quite good fun and brings an extra dimension to the game. Only time will tell but I can see this being a great hit with players and being introduced by other rooms pretty soon.
Party has controversially introduced a new segregation policy across it’s poker tables, essentially you now only see tables based on your perceived skill level. This is intended to benefit new and ‘losing’ players by hiding their tables to the more seasoned and predatory ‘winning’ players. How exactly Party work this out is unclear, but it seems new players get to see all the tables and as their play is judged by the system, if they are consistent winners, the tables visible are reduced.
Segregated tables can only be good for new players so if you’re a bit green in the poker department then Party is one of the sites you should try first. If you’re a winning or significantly profitable player then maybe play here for a while but as you see the number of tables reduce it may be time to visit new pastures.
An advantage of setting up your own Party Poker account is that you can use that same account for any of their other online gaming sites. There’s a choice of Backgammon, Bingo, Casino, Sportsbook and of course Poker, all of which can be accessed with the one account. They have also recently introduced Party TV with a good range of online programs, news and tutorials which can only be accessed through your PartyGaming account. The tutorials are very informative and it’s worth setting up your own account for them alone, especially if you’re new to poker.

There’s a range of tournaments on offer around the clock at Party. Most tournaments are, as usual, in Limit or No-limit Texas Holdem but you’ll also find tourneys in Omaha and less frequently 7 Card Stud.
Apart from regular tournaments there are also plenty of guaranteed prizepool and shootout tournaments to suit most budgets. Here’s a few tournaments worth trying:-
Guaranteed $200k on Sundays at 6.30pm UK (1.30pm New York) where you can buy-in for £215 or join one of the many satellites through the week, including the 50 Seat Frenzy when, yes, you’ve guessed it there are 50 seats up for grabs every Saturday at 6.35pm UK (1.35pm New York).
There are two ways to get into the 50 Seat Frenzy Tournament as follows:
- Buy in direct for $15
- Play in one of the qualifiers from just $1.
Saturday Night Guaranteed $30,000. The fun kicks off at 7.00pm UK (2pm New York), buy in direct for $215 or play in one of the low cost satellites which run throughout the week leading up to the tournament.
Please note that you cannot unregister from a multi-table tournament within 15mins of the start time at Party, this is quite unusual as most sites allow players to unregister right up until the point at which the tournament begins.
Sit and Go’s

- Highest entry: $5010
- Buy-in fee: 10% included
- Usual starting stack: 2000

The Sit and Go’s at Party have a good amount of traffic 24/7, although at the moment they only offer holdem as an option.
Something that should really interest the keen Sit and Go players is the Party Poker Steps tournaments. Work your way up through 6 levels of Sit and Go’s for a grand prize of $2000 from an initial stake of just $3. This is a great way to perfect your sit and go skills whilst enjoying some great value poker at minimal cost.
There are also multi-table sit and go’s for 20, 30 or 50 players (the tournament will start as soon as the full number are registered). You can buy in from $3 to $33 so you should find one to suit you.
Loyalty
Party have a loyalty scheme called Palladium Rewards where you earn points with every game you play. There are four different Party Points key levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Palladium), the more points you earn the higher the key level you reach.
You can spend your PartyPoints in the store (which is great value), in exchange for gift certificates and tournament buy-ins. The higher your Palladium key level the greater the poker bonuses you can earn plus you can get cash back up to 22.22%.
Leaderboards & Leagues
From time to time promotions are introduced featuring tournament leaderboards where you can boost your ranking by playing in multi table tournaments and sit n go’s.
